Healthcare Excellence Canada launched the Strengthening Primary Care in Northern, Rural and Remote Communities program (Strengthening Primary Care) to strengthen access to team-based primary care in northern, rural and remote communities.

The Canadian Northern and Remote Health Network (CNRHN) brings together senior decision-makers, leaders, policymakers and practitioners, to develop effective and sustainable solutions to improve healthcare and the health status of people living in northern and remote areas of Canada. Members enhance their leadership and improvement skills by sharing learning, innovative ideas, tools and resources.

The Cultural Safety Design Collaborative supported non-Indigenous organizations to address systemic racism experienced by First Nations, Inuit and Métis and improve cultural safety in the healthcare system.

Across Canada, there is no shortage of innovation and creativity focused on achieving lasting improvement in patient experience, health outcomes, work life of providers and value for money.

The Promoting Life Together Collaborative modelled a co-designed learning program, bringing together multi-disciplinary teams from across northern, rural and remote parts of Canada using a shared learning approach. The name of the collaborative was re-framed to focus on ‘life promotion’, recognizing the need to take a broader and more encompassing approach to the issue of suicide, to consider all aspects of one’s life and community wellness.

Right Care Challenge supports health and social care organizations to launch or enhance initiatives that ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place—all while helping reduce avoidable emergency department visits.

A free, eight module, self-directed program to equip healthcare boards and leaders for excellence, focused on safe and high-quality healthcare.

The National Health Engagement Network is a community of practice of healthcare leaders, providers and essential care partners.

Healthcare Excellence Canada (HEC) supports the advancement of First Nations, Inuit and Métis priorities and culturally safe and equitable care in three program areas: Truth and Reconciliation, First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Northern health system partnerships, and addressing systemic racism and supporting cultural safety.
